Fulton County Police Detective Terence Green was shot and killed in an ambush while responding to a report of shots fired in the early morning hours of March 4, 2015. After a search of the suspect’s house, officers began searching the neighborhood after receiving calls that the suspect was attempting to break into several nearby homes and firing a gun. The suspect opened fire on the officers from a concealed position in the dark, striking Detective Green in the head. Other officers returned fire and struck the suspect, who was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the suspect’s 15-year-old daughter, Detective Green knew her family well. Her father was a troubled Army veteran and single father, and Detective Green frequently stopped by their home and her school to check on their well-being and to offer advice.

Detective Green, a 22-year veteran of the Fulton County Police Department, grew up in the Atlanta area and was well-known in the community where he lived and worked. He leaves behind a wife and four sons.
