Marietta Firefighter Lonnie Nutt died of an apparent heart attack while responding to a car wreck on March 7, 2013. Nutt arrived at the accident scene on Whitlock Avenue and began to help an injured motorist when he collapsed. He died en route to Kennestone Hospital.

Firefighter Nutt, an Oklahoma native, was a 19-year veteran of the Marietta Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, Rosa, daughter, Cassandra, parents, Charlotte & Ron, and sister, Lori.
