” He was a great officer, he was fine officer. He was respected by his peers, he was respected by his friends and he was respected by his community.”

DeKalb County Police Chief Cedric Bell

DeKalb County Police Officer Ivorie Klusmann was killed in a car accident while in pursuit of a suspect on August 10, 2013. Klusmann pulled over the driver of a suspected stolen vehicle and had just returned to his patrol car after taking the driver’s information when the suspect fled the scene. A short time later another officer notified dispatchers that he had spotted the suspect, and Klusmann was on his way to that location when he lost control of his patrol car and hit a tree. The suspect was arrested later that day and has been charged with felony murder, reckless driving, and theft by receiving a motor vehicle.

Officer Klusmann graduated from the police academy in April of 2013 to join his brother on the DeKalb Police force and had been with the department for ten months. He was the father of two children.
